I havent heard about the subscription part, but the reference to WoW is that the COD Franchise will turn a game into a MMORG, basically a role play like Warcraft.

Andy & I are used to Guild Wars, and I think Company of Heroes is a great multiplayer game. I still would like to have a go of CoH together against the computer. It helped me learn how to set up the troops, and you help each other out so no one gets annihilated !

Lets keep an eye out for more news.
