Thanks Andy!!!!! 1 Year, 5 Months ago Karma: -111
Well to start off I would like to say thanks to Andy, because of him I am about to embark on a extremely costly upgrade, all because he posted on here he was looking to upgrade his own rig.

I was always going to upgrade my graphics card at some point leading up to November but now I want to go further. But this time I'm going to do this right, instead of doing it on a budget I'm going to get a component a month.

Grand total of £1,962.93 not including postage.

The new case has been ordered this month. Not sure what will be next, I'm going to hold off on the graphics card for a few month in hope price will drop a lot, the was another one I was looking at
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-090-MS&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1502

but I cant bring myself to go second best. Why cant I just upgrade my graphics card, Oh and I would also need to buy a heatsink more expense.

I can only say you must be living at home with Ma & Pa with a disposable income like that...

Really, please tell me what current game uses 4GB of Graphics RAM ? Most games (well probably 99%) are lazy console ports so are going to be restricted by how much RAM they have inside of them, so unless you are going to do some Ray Tracing or CAD/CAM in your spare time it seems very wasteful.

The Nine Hundred Case is a brilliant case, I looked at the older one last year, brilliant amount of space and good ventilation.

6Gb of RAM should be ok, I survive on 4GB so a bit more wont hurt (especially with Windows)

The rest of the kit is on the expensive side, I am very disappointed that you didn't go with a watercooling kit for that wee beasty you are trying to create, I am sure if you have a with one of the south easteners they could hook that up to your boiler no problem and you wouldn't need any gas to keep it warm

And dont blame Andy, his budget wouldn't even buy your Graphics Card

I have the 900 case but there is one major issue, the amount of dust it sucks in, the 902 has built in filters.

This is definatly a long term investment but I will be looking to upgrade my graphics card soon just watching the prices. The thing that attracted me to that card is the cooling the 3 fans like my current 4870x2 I just found it much cooler 20oC under load and up to 10oC idle which has turned me off single fans.

I am also considering upgrading my HDD to a new SSD.

It is definatly a wish list cant decide what to do, at the moment I'm rearly on my PC never mind gaming, but with MoH and Black Ops(Maybe) coming up the new graphics card may be a must have.

And as for budget I have just been promoted at work and recieved a tidy bonus to go with it.

I seriously doubt that the games coming up will remotely push you current rig!

For that matter, until the PS4/X360 err 2, the system requirements of any games coming out shouldn't be too far away from the current crop of games.

If it were me, I'd hold fire until your see what you current rig can do.

Saying that, money spent on a good case / psu, etc isn't ever wasted (as long as you don't get bored with it after 5 minutes).

I'm holding off on the motherboard and CPU and RAM.

Thats on the back burner since I only upgraded them in Feb.

Plus I've got a I7 but there is one thats £264.36 that has slightly better performance extras.

Next for me is a SSD which I will use for Windows install and Apps and some games. I will then use other HDD's and SSD for storage as my PC lacks only around 200gb and I only have 21gb spare.

I did look at other 5970 cards today and I could purchace a artec cooler for it but there is no way I could perform major surgery on a brand new £500 card.

I'm looking at it this way I cant play games in DX10 or 11 on my 4870x2 even though the card supports 10 and it sometimes struggles with BC2 mind you that is maxed. I would be looking at Nov or Dec if I am to upgrade the card.

What rez are you running? I can't believe that card doesn't cope with B:BC2, unless they have never botherred to produce proper drivers for it. It could also be bad game code which no amount of horsepower will resolve.
