Well lads information is coming through in tiny little snippets at the moment after the bomb shell of the last 30hours or so about the no didicated servers.
The petition has now been signed by over 120000 people.
Now some more info has come to light.
1 The max size of any server for any game type is 16!!!
2 Sniper rifles will no longer sway so no need to hold your breath
3 Multiplayer
■Grenades actually have physics now.
■Unique ghillie suits for each environment.
■Maps will have weather effects.
■There will be snow maps in multiplayer.
■Perks and Killstreaks
■A Sentry Gun can be destroyed with anything.
■You can use the AC-130 to shoot down enemy helicopters.
■It takes two rockets to take down an AC-130 in multiplayer.
■Special Ops (co-op)
■At first you can only access Alpha Spec Ops missions, you will need to unlock the rest.
■Special Ops is just as long, if not longer than Single Player.
■There are 3 stars per mission. You get 1 star for beating on Regular, 2 stars for Hardened and 3 stars for beating on Veteran.
■Special Ops includes a variety of game types and mission objectives, including Wave Defense.
■Weapons and Equipment
■Riots Shields have been balanced for multiplayer. You move slow and the shield gets cracks (bad visibility)
■There will be a new Thermal Scope attachment.
■Many of the Call of Duty 4 perks are now actual attachments to weapons, e.g. Bandolier is now an extended magazine attachment.
■Misc
■You can view your previous Accolades at any time and see how many of each you've received.
■The PS3 version of Modern Warfare 2 will have trophies and rumble support.
■The PC version of Modern Warfare 2 will have Prestige mode, just like the console version.
■There will be lobby mute.
■Max level in Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer is Lvl 70.
It also seems like IW just dont care what people think even their own forum moderators mainly fourzerotwo are goading people posting on the forum.
Personally I rarely play on a server with more than 16 players on anyway its just this concept of the host being someone who may leave the game at any second as what happened with the consoles IW claim to have solved that problem but im not so sure I think this will just mean people with the better PC's and connection speeds will be lumbered with the burden of hosting the server.
My understanding of the system is this, say I have the best PC and broadband connection (Not necessarily true) but if it was and we were to have a game then my pc would host the game, but all packets would go from player to player directly the server deals with other things although Im not sure what and I think what IW have done is to make another play with the next best connection etc the back up server so if I left another PC would take up the slack and so on. The problem there is you all have seen what its like playing W@W zombies and L4D like this high pings and often latency, IW claim to get around this they keep the game confined to geographical areas to keep pings down,I have played COD4 on xbox 360 online and I wasnt impressed.
The next question and only important question is will this new system really work or will IW see the light and listen to the forums and patch the game to support Dedicated servers before its too late?
The sad thing is that we won't be able to go server raiding or strike up friendships with other clans eg 5punk, something for the weekend etc. There is always something a bit more fun playing against or with a player you are more familiar with.
